However, grateful thanks to some of the members of the Sound Team at All Souls Langham Place, who took the time and trouble to listen and give advice when the author knew absolutely nothing about sound (now many years back) and Ian McLeod who then helped me on the next steps of the way in adding the sound effects and Richard Dalton for being honest with me when I was going wrong and he didn't like the result and Tim Beaumont, Tom Beaumont and Ben Hayden who lent the mixer and mikes for years on end without asking for them back

Bach_-_Brandenburg_Concerto_5_-_1._Allegro. DescriptionBrandenburg Concerto No. 5, with soloists Roxana Pavel Goldstein (violin), Constance Schoepflin(flute), and Matthew Ganong (harpsichord) As the opening movement of the Brandenburg Concerto Number Five in D major unfolds, the harpsichord seems at first willing to play a subservient role as part of the continuo. But as time goes on it becomes more and more assertive until finally it bursts forth into an astonishing cadenza of tremendous difficulty. Violin and flute share the solo spot at the beginning. but once the cadenza begins, they are cast completely into the shade. At the opening of the cadenza, we are listening to the dying strains from the keyboard as mere continuo accompaniment and the birth of the virtuoso harpsichord concerto. Bach_-_Brandenburg_Concerto_5_-_3._Allegro. DescriptionBrandenburg Concerto No. 5, with soloists Roxana Pavel Goldstein (violin), Constance Schoepflin(flute), and Matthew Ganong (harpsichord) The finale. an Allegro, is written in 2/4 time, but the beats are subdivided by triplets, which gives to the ear the impression of a rollicking Jig, toclose the concerto in high spirits. Bach_-_Brandenburg_Concerto_6_-_1._Allegro. DescriptionBrandenburg Concerto No. 6, with soloists Elias Goldstein & Elizabeth Choi (violas) and Anna Steinhoff (cello). Bach scored the sixth concerto in this set for a combination of string instruments that is unusual in several ways. Firstly, it features the low sounding members of the string family -no violins. Secondly, the solo instruments -two violas da braccio and a cello -and the accompanying tutti instruments -two violas da gamba, violone, and harpsichord - are unusual instruments for Bach. Finally, at the beginning of the first movement the solo violas play in close canon, only an eighth note apart, like a closely argued conversation. The canonic writing becomes even more complex as the movement goes on. The choicesof instruments as well as the contrapuntal complexity suggest to some Bach scholars that this Concerto might be one of his earliest instrumental works. Bach_-_Flute_Sonata_Bmin_-_1._Andante_-_Traverso_and_Harpsichord DescriptionFlute Sonata B minor - 1. Andante - Traverso and Harpsichord These recordings (1974) come from Pan104 titled "Complete and Authentic Works from the Neue Bach Gesellshaft." There is one more sonata which is agreed on to be authentic, but it is incomplete in the 1st movement. It will be found in Vol2. The traverso was made by Engelhard of Nuernberg, who was born in 1758. The pitch is A=419 herz. This flute is from the de Wit collection in Amsterdam and was kindly lent by the owner for the recording. The harpsichord is an Italian replica, similar to the one used for the Italian harpsichord recording, except for a nasard stop, an additional row of jacks close to the plucking point. The tuning for the B minor sonatas which traverses many keys is the Werkmeister #1, a well temperament. The remaining sonatas are in mean tone tuning. The realizations of the bass for sonatas in E major and minor were done by Martha Goldstein. Date SourceThe Al Goldstein collection in the Pandora Music repository at ibiblio.org. Ein_Madchen_oder_Weibchen Description English: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Papageno's aria "Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen" from The Magic Flute (Recorded live at Princeton University's 2007 Annual Physics Department Recital production and in private session preceding) Edition: We read the piano reduction from G. Schirmer Opera Anthology: Arias for Baritone, Robert L. Larsen ed., G. Schirmer, Inc., New York, NY: 1991. It is identical to the reduction in CD Sheet Music except for a single missing note in the CD Sheet Music copy, which looks strongly like an engraving error in the CD edition. The CD Sheet Music editions are out-of-copyright editions, so the copyright on the intellectual content of the piano reduction, divorced of its typographical formatting, is expired.
