MovementsVivace (File:Bach - Flute Sonata Amaj - 1. Vivace.ogg)Largo e dolce (File:Bach - Flute Sonata Amaj - 2. Largo e Dolce.ogg)Allegro[edit]File informationDescription   These recordings are from Pan105, titled "Incomplete and Controversial Sonatas." Unfortunately, the master tapes are lost. The recordings were copied from an lp. Apart from the A major Sonata, many authorities are not convinced that the remaining sonatas are the work of the master. The A major Sonata has an incomplete 1st movement. Alex Murray compares it to the 5th Brandenburg concerto, and suggests that a flute cadenza, like the long harpsichord cadenza in the 5th Brandenburg , could have originally been a part of the manuscript. Accordingly, Martha Goldstein wrote a completion with this aim. The flute used is a copy of an instrument by W. Beukers which was made in the late 1700's. The maker is K Kinoshita of Japan. Bach_-_Flute_Sonata_Amaj_-_3._Allegro

Description   These recordings (1974) come from Pan104 titled "Complete and Authentic Works from the Neue Bach Gesellshaft." There is one more Sonata which is agreed on to be authentic, but it is incomplete in the 1st movement. It will be found in Vol2. The traverso was made by Engelhard of Nuernberg, who was born in 1758. The pitch is A=419 herz. This flute is from the de Wit collection in Amsterdam and was kindly lent by the owner for the recording. The harpsichord is an Italian replica, similar to the one used for the Italian harpsichord recording, except for a nasard stop, an additional row of jacks close to the plucking point. The tuning for the B minor sonatas which traverses many keys is the Werkmeister #1, a well temperament. The remaining sonatas are in mean tone tuning. The realizations of the bass for sonatas in E major and minor were done by Martha Goldstein. Bach_-_Flute_Sonata_Emin_-_1- 4

Description   These recordings(1974) come from Pan104 titled "Complete and Authentic Works from the Neue Bach Gesellshaft." There is one more Sonata which is agreed on to be authentic, but it is incomplete in the 1st movement.

Bach_-_Flute_Sonata_Gmin_-_1.- 3.

Description   Bach - Flute Sonata Gmin - 1. Allegro

These recordings are from Pan105, titled "Incomplete and Controversial Sonatas." Unfortunately, the master tapes are lost.

Unfortunately, the master tapes are lost.

Bach_-_Flute_Sonata_Emaj_-_1 – 4

These recordings (1974) come from Pan104 titled "Complete and Authentic Works from the Neue Bach Gesellshaft." There is one more Sonata which is agreed on to be authentic, but it is incomplete in the 1st movement.

Carl_Philipp_Emanuel_Bach-_Flute_Concerto_Gmaj_-_1-3

Description   Flute Concerto in G major by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach

C.P.E. Bach composed more than 300 works for His Majesty many of them for the King's chosen instrument, the transverse flute. Of Bach's five extant flute

concertos, the G major is probably the last, dating from 1755. These concertos must have presented Frederick . though an able flutist, considerable challenges. Perhaps Frederick 's lack of appreciation of Bach's works accounts for the alternative versions of them for harpsichord, cello and organ. Bach extended the practice of rearranging established works by his father but tailored the virtuoso passagework to better suit each solo instrument.
